Four star rated !Xaus Lodge offers 4 luxury Kgalagadi accommodation in Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park for eco-tourists and visitors to the Kalahari. Our Kgalagadi accommodation includes a central lodge with welcoming reception, lounge and dining area, and 12 individual chalets. Pronounced ‘kaus’, the word "!Xaus" means "heart", and refers to the vast heart-shaped saltpan overlooked by the central lodge and chalets. !Xaus offers a unique desert stay experience: each chalet has its own deck overlooking the pan and waterhole fed with fresh water. Highlights of the lodge include a cosy lounge with a fireplace, an art and craft shop, a large observation deck perfect for star- gazing, a refreshing swimming pool and a heart-warming fire in the boma, perfect for enjoying the beauty and silence of the night while keeping warm.
Guests participate in dune walks, visit the local Bushmen at a re-created craft village, go on afternoon or evening game drives and have access to telescopes to enjoy some of the best star-gazing in Southern Africa.
- Game drives - enjoy a fantastic sunset game drive on the pan or an after-dinner drive to explore some of the night creatures the Kalahari has to offer. A complementary six- to seven-hour drive through the dunes is available to guests staying four nights or longer.
- Guided walks - An early start with the guides and bushman trackers will take you through the dunes as you learn all about your natural surroundings.
- Cultural village - Take a walk to our recreated cultural village and see the Bushman crafters at work.
- Star gazing - Clean air and no light pollution makes for a wonderful opportunity to gaze at the night sky. The best night-sky viewing is during the new moon when the sky is at its darkest.
