Travelling with children in South Africa

Travelling to South Africa with children soon? Make sure you're up-to-date with the new requirements for travelling with kids under 18 years. From June 1st, you'll need to make sure you have the right documents with you when arriving and leaving the country.

Here are a few things you need to know when your plan your trip to South Africa

  • Under the new law, all minors (children under the age of 18 years) will be required to produce, in addition to their passport, an Unabridged Birth Certificate (showing the particulars of both parents) when arriving and departing from South African. 
  • In cases where the Unabridged Birth Certificate is in a language other than English, it must be accompanied by a sworn translation issued by a competent authority in the country concerned.
